The confirmed answer

DJ Moore is a Buffalo Bills wide receiver. Buffalo’s official roster lists him on the team, while the Bills’ trade announcement records his move from Chicago on March 11, 2026.

For the Bills’ September 17 game against Detroit, however, Moore did not finish the game. The team’s official update says he was ruled out after a shoulder and stinger injury.

What happened during the Lions game

Buffalo says Moore was hurt with about three minutes left in the second quarter while diving for a Josh Allen pass in the end zone. He landed on his shoulder, walked off under his own power, and went to the locker room for X-rays.

His game status changed in two steps: he was first listed as questionable to return, then downgraded to out. That means he did not return to the Bills–Lions game.

What the update does not establish

The official update does not give a date for Moore’s next appearance. It answers the game-specific question—he was out for the rest of that matchup—but it does not establish whether he will play in a later game.

That distinction matters. A player being ruled out for one game is not, by itself, an announcement of a season-long absence or a confirmed return date. The defensible takeaway from the current official record is narrower: Moore is on Buffalo’s roster, he left the Detroit game, and Buffalo has not announced his future availability in the cited update.
