Why I looked up Jack Lowden

I was curious whether the Jack Lowden–James Bond connection had an official announcement behind it. Rather than build a note around casting speculation, I looked for what the companies involved had actually published.

The distinction I came away with is narrow but useful: the official pages I checked confirm Lowden’s involvement in Slow Horses season six. They do not establish that he has been cast as James Bond.

What Amazon actually confirms

Amazon’s Bond update says, “The search for the next James Bond is underway.” The studio also says it does not intend to discuss specific details during the casting process and will share more news when appropriate.

That page names Denis Villeneuve as director and Steven Knight as screenwriter. It does not name the next Bond or mention Lowden.

I would not turn that omission into a claim that Lowden is out of consideration. An announcement that withholds casting details cannot settle an individual actor’s chances. It simply does not support calling him the new Bond.

My checklist for reading the connection

Here is the distinction I would use when deciding whether another headline adds anything substantive:

What I found when I kept looking

Apple’s August 18, 2026, announcement lists Lowden in the returning ensemble and announces a September 16, 2026, global premiere for Slow Horses season six on Apple TV, including the U.S.

Apple specifies a six-episode season: one episode at premiere, followed by one episode each week through October 21, 2026. The release also says this season adapts Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s series.

Those details answer a different, concrete question: where Lowden is officially listed in an upcoming release. They do not make the Bond connection any more confirmed.

Where I landed

For my own notes, I am keeping two labels separate: confirmed Slow Horses cast member and unconfirmed Bond casting claim. Neither official page I checked announces Lowden as 007. That is the limit of this source check—not a claim to know what is happening privately.
