Why I looked this up
I kept seeing searches for “Emmys 2026,” “Creative Arts Emmys,” and “Emmy Awards tonight.” What confused me was that the official calendar contains more than one Emmy event, so a single date does not explain the whole schedule.
I went directly to the Television Academy and NBCUniversal pages to separate the ceremonies from the television broadcasts.
The core schedule
The main 78th Emmy Awards telecast is set for Monday, September 14, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will air live on NBC and stream live and on demand on Peacock, according to the Television Academy’s official viewing page.

The Creative Arts events come earlier:

This distinction answers the “are the Emmys tonight?” question more carefully: September 6 is the scheduled Creative Arts Night Two date, not the date of the main NBC telecast. The main ceremony is scheduled for September 14.
What I found when I looked further
The Academy’s Night One results announcement says that the first evening honored variety, reality, and nonfiction categories. That helped me understand why Creative Arts results can appear before the better-known televised ceremony without meaning that the entire 2026 Emmy Awards are finished.
My practical takeaway is to check which part of the Emmys a date refers to before marking a calendar: a Creative Arts ceremony, the edited Creative Arts broadcast, and the main NBC telecast are separate entries.
