Rays Beat Yankees 4–3 in ALDS Game 3 After Fan-Interference Ruling
Tampa Bay completed a three-game sweep after a fan-interference ruling kept New York from tying Game 3.
At Yankee Stadium on October 7, 2026, the Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees 4–3 in ALDS Game 3, completing a three-game sweep. In the sixth inning, Anthony Volpe’s apparent two-run homer was overturned after replay determined that a spectator had interfered with the ball. Officials concluded the ball would not have cleared the wall or been caught, so Volpe was awarded an RBI double and one run scored. That left New York trailing 4–3 instead of tying the game, and the Yankees did not overcome the deficit.
